Adobe Creative Cloud will not update

Community Beginner ,

Synopsis: I am unable to download a Creative Cloud update and this is not letting me update/install any apps on my Macbook Pro.

For a couple of days, every time Adobe Creative Cloud opened, it said there was an update, and it attempted the update. However, every time it failed, saying "Encountered issues in updating Creative Cloud. Error code 196. Please try again... (etc.)" Adobe's support page says that error 196 means I should simply retry the update. That, however, just causes the error again.

I therefore made my way through the forums to find a solution that would help. The attempts I have made are:

- Restarting my Mac. This did not resolve the issue.

- Signing out of my account and signing in with a different one. This did not resolve my issue.

- Reinstalling Creative Cloud. This did not resolve the issue.

- Doing a complete uninstall of every Adobe program on my Mac with help of the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and reinstalling Creative Cloud. This did not resolve the issue.

The issue also goes beyond just Creative Cloud. I am unable to download any apps that are in my subscription again (Photoshop, Lightroom) through Creative Cloud as it says "Installation Failed". The "More info" button simply says to retry (which causes the same error).

When I download the apps from the "Creative Cloud apps Direct download" page, after opening the .dmg file and clicking install, I get the message "Sorry, installation failed. We are unable to install Photoshop CC this time (Error Code: 1)."

Other facts that may be useful:

- Creative Cloud works fine on my Windows desktop, and so do all the apps. The issue is therefore probably not because of a problem with my account or subscription.

- I have around 200GB storage free on my Mac, so it is not a storage issue.

- I have attempted to download the update on a different network and the same issue persists, so it's not a network error.

- I've had everything installed on my Mac for a couple years now and never encountered any issues with updates. This is the first time this has happened.

Macbook Specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Processor: 2,5 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Startup Disk: Macintosh HD

Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2 GB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

tl;dr: Creative Cloud update keeps failing for no reason (?) and it seems I can't use/install any apps until that update finishes. I have attempted multiple solutions, including a full reinstall, to no avail.

Is there any solution I might have missed that could fix the issue? Or is there someone specific I may contact for an issue such as this?

Attempted another complete uninstall-reinstall and this time it worked. Don't know why, but whatever, I'm at least glad I can use my programs again

Try creating a new Mac user account with full administrative permissions.
