I'm glad I found this forum. It's no longer 2017 and the problem persists. I'm a newbie to all of this in 2021 and was blaming Windows, ready to toss my PC out the window and switch to Mac. I didn't really consider Adobe itself is the problem. Still.

Barb, sorry that the files for the Creative Cloud desktop app are being damaged on the computer. Are you able to resolve the error by implementing the solutions listed in https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html? If so, then how long does it take before the files become damaged or are destroyed again?
Many changes have been implemented since 2017; please see https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/release-note/cc-release-notes.html for many of the enhancements and improvements that have been implemented.
