Serial on InDesign CS6 "serial is ok, but no product associated"

Indesign CS6 on Windows 7. (CS5 already installed for some years in the same PC).

When entering the serial number, it says "serial is ok, but there is no product associated with that serial".

So I install trial version, and then try to enter the serial, but same answer.

¿any idea? Thanks, Xavier

(I am really tired now with ADOBE !! Bought the serial 48 hours ago and had troubles to download, to install, no phone line available (although they give phones in Spain all are answering machines redirecting to the web) tried the chat, but "chat is closed" although it is working time .... I just want to install the serial and forget !!) Sorry for this guys, I am really fed up. Paying was easy. Installing, a nightmare of 48 hours and still not done.)

Hi Xavier,

The message indicates you are installing an upgrade version, and is not able to find the older qualifying version that you upgraded from.


Please refer to the instructions in the following link :

Error: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | CS6, CS5.5, CS5

thanks for your help, I understand what you mean and makes sense to me ... although still did not work. i explain below :

I run to the PC with the CS6 installed, and tried to reinstall the serial.

1. it asked for the "valid serial, but no valid product ..."

2. then I select CS5 and added the old serial number from CS5

3. the NEXT button activated (i was smiling at this point) and then I checked the NEXT button ... and nothing happened.

I have checked also the "https://accounts.adobe.com/products" website and my old CS5 and new CS6 serials are there ... any idea?

Hello Bani

tried what indicated in the link but no success :

1. I recovered the serial numbes indicated at https://accounts.adobe.com/products

    the page indicates  InDesign 1037-1315-............   8.0 WIN 29 July 2015

                                 InDesign 1037-1778-............   CS5 WIN 19 September 2015

2. As before, i opened InDesign CS6, selected "License the sofware"

    Selected the id

    Added the serial number for 8.0 and "next"

    The message appears "Valid serial but no valid product installed" and gives the option to select CS5, CS4 and CS3 and add a serial

    I select CS5 and added the CS5 serial 1037-1778-... 

    The "next" button becomes enabled

    I click on the next, and nothing happens

    I then tried to select CS4 and CS3, but still nothing happens

(My InDesing version is in spanish)

Any idea?
