A curious co-worker poked around and deleted the library home folder and sub files. I'm having trouble getting this fixed so I can update/ maintain our website. I purchased a book, which I have skimmed several times and have viewed many YouTube videos, have experimented unsuccessfully. Would like to fix and then upgrade to much newer version of Dreamweaver.

Learning to use outdated software won't help you.  If anything it's an albatross.  Macromedia went out of business many, many years ago.  There is no active support for MX 2004.  The legacy installers are long gone as are the activation servers. And more importantly, web standards have changed significantly in 16 years.

Download Brackets, it's an open source editor that understands modern code.  It's also the same code engine that Dreamweaver CC uses.

To be clear, I can download the trial software on any PC and as long as I have the remote server information, I can connect and then update files to upload to remote server?
