Index file=HelpDH.hhk
Language=0x809 English (United Kingdom)
Title=HypDeltaH

Forget about Importing.

What happens when you use File > Open and browse to the  file on your hard drive?

If it's a text file, it should be editable in ANY plain  text editor.

just recreate the site configuration from scratch. You will need the informations corresponding to the FTP access (URL, Port, Login, Password, type)

  1. Local https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/how-to/make-website-pt1-site-setup.html#define_the_local_site_folder_for_the_bayside_beat_site
  2. Remote https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/connect-remote-server.html

I have the same problem, I cannot import a site, since my older version of DW did not create a .ste document (or at least I cannot find it on my new computer). Of coarse, I can open any .html with DW and edit, but I also need to upload these files and sync them with the server.

How to proceed?

Dreamweaver doesn't create the ste file without user input.  It is created manually from an export.  DW does store the files locally if you have a backup:

Mac --> User library:Application Support:Adobe:Common:{Version}:Sites

Win --> Registry --> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common\{Version}\Sites

Hopefully you kept your FTP log-in details written down & stored in a safe place.  Otherwise contact your hosting provider for credentials and Root directory.

Go to Site > New Site and create a new site definition.  See screenshots.

CC-localsite.jpgexpand image

CC-RootFolder.jpgexpand image

Once your site is defined, hit the Export button in Manage Sites Panel to create STE file.  Keep STE files on externals or flash sticks in case you ever need to recover settings later.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

That helped. Creating a new site instead of importing. Now I can see all the excisting files on both my harddrive and on the remote one.

Thanks a lot!
