Disabling The Auto Bracket Closing In Dreamweaver 2017

Explorer ,
Jan 10, 2017 Jan 10, 2017

Hey, I've been using the new DW 2017 for a few weeks and the auto bracket closing is driving me up a wall. (As well as auto quote closing).  I haven't been able to find a setting to turn it off though? I have code hinting and auto completion disabled but brackets still auto close on me. Its frustrating me to a level that I'm considering ditching DW over this.

Any help would be swell.

thanks!

To disable auto completion of quotes and brackets in Dreamweaver please follow below steps:

  1. Quit Dreamweaver
  2. Open following file in a text editor:
    • Win: %appdata%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2018\en_US\Configuration\Brackets\brackets.json
    • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC 2018/en_US/Configuration/Brackets/brackets.json
  3. Set below 2 flags in the file to false which are set to true by default.
    • "autoCloseQuotes": false,
    • "autoCloseBraces": false,
  4. Save and close the file
  5. Launch Dreamweaver.

The best solution is go BACK to a PRIOR VERSION of Dreamweaver.  I have already wasted 2 hours on this POS trying to get things to work.  Been using this product for 15 years now.  If you want to have a BETA than put out a BETA....but not asking REAL USES how they are using this product is an insult.  I HATE THIS VERSION.

I feel better now.

Did you install the latest update yet?  It came out yesterday (Apr 19th).

Dreamweaver 2017.1 is now live

how can we go back? I mean, is there a way, within the updates? to downgrade?

btw. NOTEPAD++ is such a great example
of a great mindset.  - Live could be awesome.

FYI: as of the latest adobe cc update, CC 2015 does not work nor on my laptop or desktop. You can't make this kind of incompetence up.

As of this writing, the current version is CC 2018; not 2015.

Please start a new discussion. Give details about your OS, DW version, error messages, etc...  Hopefully one of the product users on this forum can help you.
