Do you have any comment about my story?

Hi,

This is not about coding.

I just want to hear any comment about my story.

Some of you might have deep knowledge about the mechanics behind.

If I disturb you, sorry about that.

I just received the email below.

I clicked the link, put the info of my card details, and arrived at the page below.

But the verification code was not sent to my phone number.

Screen Shot 2020-08-29 at 11.11.53.pngIn the end, I got to know the link goes to vagaquiz.fr.

It's sham.

I terminaged my debit card and renewed password to PayPal.

And I reported the case to PayPal and am waiting for the reply.

I opened the email and link on Mac and iPhone.

Would my system be OK?

I am worried about it.

I have two PayPal accounts: one-United Kingdom, the other -South Korea.

The former is with yahoo mail and the later is with gmail.

But the sham email came to my hotmail.

PayPal has no info about my hotmail.

I am sorry to read about your plight. This comes too late for you, but you should always be careful with such emails, particularly when the email starts with a generic greeting without mentioning your name.

In my case, everyone calls me Ben, but I have an official first name that I use for all official business. When the official first name does not appear in the greeting, I treat the email as suspicious. Secondly, no official email will present you with a link because you are supposed to know

Secondly, no official email will present you with a link because you are supposed to know that link without being prompted.

Further to your dilemma, change all of your passwords anywhere and everywhere. It is good that you have terminated your payment cards. Do a virus scan on your system in case the spammer left malicious code and clear all browser cookies and local storage.

Your email addres is known, so expect more spam emails.

Keeping fingers crossed for you and let this be an experience learnt for others.

While we're on the subject...  Beware of fake Adobe reps who may contact you privately offering to sell you software or take control of your computer. It's a scam, run away!  Adobe employees will never use Outlook, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, Prontomail or Skype to contact customers.
