Dreamweaver 2017 uploading problems and images not showing...

New Here ,

I had a portfolio site already built with an older version of Dreamweaver and I am reusing it.  I am reusing it because I am switching hosting service from FatCow to Godaddy.  I have talked with Godaddy and all the connections are set correctly.  Previously, I could upload the primary folder that held everything and upload it.  That didn't work.  So I uploaded the next 2 primary folders and for some reason they did upload.   Working with image adjustments, I have tried fixing a page and removing the old from the 'remote' and replacing it with improved page...there are other pages linked to these pages.  Say there are 10 images and during the process of up loading only 4 will upload, the process will say 'incomplete', stop and quit.  Never had problems before using this version.   suggestion???

As far as images, I know that they are correct.  One page, I have rebuilt several times- a table with the images nested in it-, it looks fine, I go to save it and ALL the images disappear.  what is the problem?

The site is www.robbymaynard.com

I am using a Mac Pro (the one that looks like a black trash can)

Check your code & fix reported errors.  That's your 1st line of defense against rendering problems.

This image is 404 not found on server.  Did you upload the Portfolio folder to your server's root directory?

Depending on hosting plan, GoDaddy often uses public_html as the root.   If unsure, check with your  host.

According to the 'remote server', the Portfolio is apart of it. or are you talking about something else?

Is your site properly defined in DW including your server's Root Directory?

Are you uploading files and folders to that server Root Directory?

Hi Nancy,

Yes to both counts, but I discovered a permissions issue on my server that seems to have resolved it.

Thanks,

Dave

Above is a screenshot of the local and remote.

There seems to be a difference between the two. The root Directory is archnportfolio folder. The remote seems to be different. As noted, I couldn't load the root directory to the remote. Only the 'architecture' and 'portfolio' folders could be uploaded. Is this a new thing with 2017 or is it a GoDaddy problem ...or a combo problem?

This web forum does not support email attachments.  You must log-in to the web forum to post screenshots.

Your remote server and local site folder should be the same.   The site definition and FTP in DW CC 2017 is no different than previous versions.

Below is a screenshot of the Files panel expanded to show both remote server (left) & local files (right) for a comparison.   In this example, my server's root directory is public_html.  That's where all the public facing files and folders must go otherwise they can't bee seen online.

They should be but they aren't. The remote starts this way:line 1 /public_html/ line 2 .htaccess. As I was copying the remote, it suddenly changed. line 2 and line 3 404.shtml suddenly dropped to the bottom of the 'remote' list...by it's self, I didn't touch anything.

So, now the problems are what appear as broken link for image but in the 'split' building version, every thing appears OK in the general title page. On the other hand, the painting page looks OK but the images don't show.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how to get back to our original forum question. I'm new to this forum stuff. I'm sure if you see this stuff in an attachment, it would make more sense.
