Don't hang your hat on any official response, we haven't had one for years.

Most times when things are promised they never materialise, excuses are made that the DW techs are working on something else, whilst other products continue to make their products compatible and bring new innovative solutions into their programs in super fast time.

Sorry to say this but those of us that have been around here for many years think Dreamweaver has all but been abandoned and has been in non-stop steep decline for ages. We all hoped it wasnt but there is no confidence in the product now as no-one at Adobe seems to take it seriously any longer and certainly do not issue any information as to what, where and when things can be expected to improve.

It is what it is - a pretty decent html editor BUT in my opinion wildly over-priced compared to other better editors, that's if you are buying into it as a single product but I suspect most who uses it have a subscription to the Cloud, so its become a bit like a 'freebie'.

Let's hope someone official from Adobe can bring a little more positivity to the response because the pain is almost unbearable for some users of Dreamweaver. I moved away from Dreamweaver some years ago now after they dropped support for the Server Behaviours. It was easy for me as I could code and most alternative editors require you to know some coding.

I am not "at Adobe" but spend enough time here to answer these...

1. According to them, "no"
2. It is being actively updated 3-4 times a year, however "upgrade" implies "updated for the better" and that's really a matter of opinion (I still use CC2015)
3. For 6 months or so they said were working on them. Then Apple changed how their OS worked and all work on database functionality has been shelved so they could fix critical issues in the program at large. There is no timetable to start up on that "story" (man I hate that term, but it is theirs) again
4. That's one of the things they've dropped everything else to try to fix.
5. They have a "Roadmap"where they go through some of this. There's never any definitive timetable though. Mostly "put things back in that we took away, and fix bugs" you can read it here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/dreamweaver/dreamweaver-2020-roadmap/td-p/10885179?page=1
6. Professionally, stick with time-tested versons of programs on known-quantity Operating Systems in production environments. The days of "upgrading" as soon as the newest update comes out are over at Adobe and Apple. They never existed for Microsoft.
7. Unfortunately, Adobe reps can't do that, at least not with the specifics you want (like concrete timetables). If you do get private messages, be careful, scammers use the PM system of this forum pretending to be Adobe reps to gain access to your systems and personal information very regularly.

This user-to-user forum is not frequently visited by Adobe staff.  As a long time product user, I'm familiar with the software's history but I don't work for Adobe.

1. No. Not that I'm aware of.  In light of the recent Muse EOL, killing DW would be unthinkable right now.

2. Yes. As with all other CC apps in development, DW receives ongoing updates and upgrades.

https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/release-note/release-notes-dreamweaver-2020.html

3. Personally, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the return of server-behaviors.

There are commercial replacements available right now if you want them.

4. AFAIK, Dreamweaver 2021 works on Big Sur.  Can My Adobe apps run on macOS Big Sur?

If your DW is crashing at start up, try Restoring Preferences or use the Adobe Cleaner tools followed by reinstallation of Creative Cloud.

5. Owing to NDA, even if any of us knew the long term plans, we couldn't talk about it publicly.  But the Dreamweaver Pre-Release program is open to interested users.

I always find that quite a funny approach and one that is totally negative. A company that cares about its customers should in my opinion keep them informed of future product developments and make sure they deliver in a reasonable time frame. That is how smaller companies work but once a comapny breaches a certain size it seems to forget its humble beginings and loyal users, treating them with distain. The bigger the company in general the poorer is its customer care.

Its a pretty sad world we live in today and one which doesnt fit in with my ethos at all. Its no wonder we are currently witnessing the kind of disgraceful events over the past week, there is no pride, moral/ethics any longer, only material and financial gain matters. Its simply become dog eat dog and do your best to shaft your neighbour and be as ignorant as you possibly can. What could possibly go wrong.

I think transparency is a good thing.  But there's a huge difference between a company's long term goals which may or may not come to fruition and a short term roadmap of things that are in the works.

"It's no wonder we are currently witnessing the kind of disgraceful events over the past week..."

Yeah, what a sh*t storm!  Where fools rush in...
