This past week, I just purchased a refurbed MacBook Pro, with M4 Max chip, and operating Sequoia 15.6.1. I'd only been learning to use this updated Dreamweaver platform for the last couple days, having been using a 17" Macbook Pro (2011) for as long as I could before 'planned obsolescence' made work on it too difficult. I was effectively using Dreamweaver on that years old. Last night, there was a software update...and Illustrator and Photoshop are still operating, but Dreamweaver crashes on opening. Restarting and going through 'Library' options offered on the platform...nothing gained. Crashes repeatedly...never actually opening to operate for a moment. Totally...bizarre...with the other CC products still working? Anyone else seeing this?

Hi @markvc@SewerSleuth

Thanks for writing to us. We apologize for the issue you are facing on your Mac ARM machine with Dw. Yes, we have a known issue on Mac ARM platform where Dw is getting crashed on opening and we are actively working in getting this resolved with the next Dw update. As a workaround, please try below steps and see if the issue gets resolved by installing Rosetta environment which is provided by Apple.

Please invoke Terminal and run the command below to install Rosetta:

  • If you have root permission: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta
  • If you don't have root permission: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

You can also refer this Apple article to install Rosetta on Mac ARM machine. Please let us know the outcome of the above workaround else we can have a remote connect session for further troubleshooting and fixing the issue.

Yes my DW also crash on my Windows 11 pro, but I let it do it because if I have not lose any work I have not saved, then you restart DW if you not have saved it will recover to that point there it crashed, it's only to save the first thing you do and continue to work. I know it is annoying to do, but it does not matter for me,  because I haven't any time press as maybe some of you. I have still not found any desktop app that can replace DW, yes there are many browser apps how can i not interest of them.

@Nayan_Kankariya earlier this morning I replied back to someone else mentioning Dreamweaver freezing up just like when they said Adobe Illustrator would freeze when using the keyboard command "ctrl+C" and "ctrl+V" and I mentioned that I noticed the same issue when using that command on my PC.  Just now while I was in Dreamweaver I used that command and immediatley after I did a "ctrl+V", Dreamweaver freezed and crashed just like it always has

I'm about 90% sure the cause of this freeze/crash issue with Dreamweaver 21.5 for 4+ months now is partially due to when using they keyboard "ctrl+C" and "ctrl+V".  Please share this to with IT Support team as this may also help resolve the problem.  Thank you!

I know this issue has been resolved or found a way to make it work but I cannot believe that the only solution is to revert back to previous version...

I wonder if the issue could be similar to the ctrl+C ctrl+V freeze that Illustrator had in the past 2 weeks?

I have been struggling with Dreamweaver's freezes for longer, but this has to be sorted!
I am losing time and energy on having to shut down and redo all my work every time I open Dreamweaver copy paste code into it and it freezes on the next click...

I have reversed back to previous version for now but Please fix this

Adobe isn't insterested in Dreamweaver any longer. It's like AOL dial-up to them.

I don't use Illustrator much but I will say an update to Adobe Audition around the same time as the Dreamweaver update broke that as well. I had to do the same thing - revert to the previous version. Stable products and technical support have never been strong points for Adobe. I don't typically give up easily and I have on this.

Hi @glenn-p,

Thanks for writing to us. Your message about Adobe not caring for Dreamweaver any longer is not correct, we continue to fully care for Dreamweaver along with other products, and Dw will continue to be part of Creative Cloud. We are actively hearing all our users feedback and commit to keeping the app working on the latest OS platforms and providing key feature upgrades.

We are actively working on resolving the stability issues that multiple users have reported in this forum w.r.t version 21.5 and will release an update soon that will fix the issues on both Mac and Win platforms.

Have a pleasant day!

Thanks,

Nayan

Some reassurance from Adobe that this is being worked on would be appreciated.

I don't work for Adobe. And I can't predict what timeline they may be working on. We'll all have to wait...

In the meantime, revert to version 21.4

Thanks Nancy, I realise you don't work for Adobe.  This was not aimed at you.

Reverting is not straightforward with an enterprise licence and centrally managed software licencing. <span style="rhetorical">Will anything break that was generated in 21.5?</span>

I haven’t had time to downgrade to Dreamweaver 21.4, so I’ve been opening and closing the program immediately.  That way, it doesn’t crash for the rest of the day, so I don’t lose my work while coding.  I’ll revert to a previous version when I have time, but it's been several months and Adobe still hasn’t fixed this issue.  If they were planning to resolve it, they’d have done so by now, it shouldn't take this long to fix such a minor problem.

@Nancy OShea, I've tried all the solutions mentioned in the community topic, but nothing has worked so far.  I haven’t had the chance to downgrade to version 21.4 yet, but that’s my next step when I have the time.

Adding to this - I can't even do basic edits without Dreamweaver crashing. Came here looking for a solution. I am reverting back to 21.4. Paying a LOT OF MONEY for these apps, they should work as expected.

Hi @Nicki Marie,

Thanks for writing to us. Can you please confirm if you are on Mac ARM platform. If yes, can you please try installing Rosetta environment which is provided by Apple by running the below command on your terminal. On Windows platform, we are actively investigating the issue internally and will soon release an update fixing the behavior.

Please invoke Terminal and run the below command to install Rosetta:

  • If you have root permission: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta
  • If you don't have root permission: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

You can also refer this Apple article to install Rosetta on Mac ARM machine. Please do give a try and let us know on the outcome for further investigations.

Have a pleasant day!

Thank you @Nayan_Kankariya for the update.  I'm on a PC using Windows 11 and still have this issue for over 4+ months now.  I hope you and your team are able to resolve this soon for us PC users.

Same with mine, locks-up on my Windows machine. Re-start Dreamweaver and it then seems fine till the next day. I've tried the suggestions, they sadly don't seem to make a difference. Seems a new bug in the latest update.

I've been experiencing this issue since the last Dreamweaver update in May 2025.  I'm using a PC with Windows 11, and the problem has been occurring every day since. It typically happens within the first 5-10 minutes of using the application, after which it freezes.  I then have to force it to shut down and restart Dreamweaver. Once restarted, the issue doesn't happen again until the next day when I open Dreamweaver, and the cycle repeats.

I’ve tried completely uninstalling Dreamweaver, removing all user settings, and reinstalling it fresh, but the issue persists.  My last resort will be to install the previous version of Dreamweaver, as this daily issue is becoming too frustrating.

Same, Frank258...

The workaround for now seems to be: Open a Dreamweaver project and acknowledge that you can't edit/upload your work from the local file to the server. Close Dreamweaver; restart Dreamweaver. Second time seems to be the charm.  Also agreed that this behavior seems to have started with a recent update.

I have exactly the same issue. Dreamweaver now only works for about half an hour before I get the rainbow wheel and I have to close it. Super frustrating, at the start of the year it worked just fine.

Did you Restore Preferences?

https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver.html

Does this happen with all files or just certain ones?

If it's limited to certain files, run a code Validation Report.

Window ⇒ Results ⇒ Validation.

Check Document & fix all reported errors.

Hope that helps.
