...seems to work now. You just have to wait about 20 minutes...

I updated to Sonoma this morning and it seemed to open fairly quickly for me. What are your system specs? Have you tried things like restoring preferences ( https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver.html#:~:text=Reset%20preferen... )?

Apple M1, 16Gb Ram - Dreamweaver has started now, but seems to try to synchronize settings with the Creative Cloud and is stuck again. I was moving back and forth with the versions. I will wait a little longer to see, if a some point Dreamweaver comes back.

Which version of Dreamweaver?  The latest version is 21.3.

Did you perform a fresh install of CC apps on your new operating system?

Did you restart your computer after installing?

Did you remove old Preferences and rebuild your site definitions?

I think I found the issue - it's got nothing to do with Dreamweaver. i am storing my site files on iCloud and after the update to Sonoma the files had to synchronize with iCloud and that took some time. Now all is working ok.

You may experience lags & errors writing to files on cloud services.

Ideally, you should move the local site folder to your primary computer hard drive so DW can readily access the files while you're working with them.

After completion, you can copy files to cloud services as a backup.
