Has anyone been able to get Dreamweaver (2017.0.1 Release 9346 Build) to connect via SFTP with ED25519 Private Key?
I recently moved servers to a new host. In doing so, I changed from SSH2 4096 Keys to the newer preferred SSH ED25519 Keys.
I have not been able to get Dreamweaver to connect to the new server with the ED25519 Keys. I keep getting the following message:
An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host.
Your login or password is incorrect. Please check your connection information.
Putty and WinSCP both connect fine to the server.
I suspect that possibly Dreamweaver does not know what to do with the ED25519 Keys. I have triple checked that I am using the correct Private Key and Passphrase IP Address, etc., same as Putty and WinSCP. I am not sure what else might be the issue on my end.
Any ideas from anyone or help from Dreamweaver Devs would be appreciated. I don't want to downgrade Keys on the server if I don't have to just to get Dreamweaver to work.
Thank you!
John
This is the response I got from the team
Dw does not yet support ed25519Key as this support was added to OpenSSL 1.1.0 and OpenSSL 1.0.2h in Aug 2016. We are looking at including support in a future update. Dw 2017 is based on OpenSSL 1.0.1j and all key types supported in this version are supported by Dw.
Thanks,
Preran

I'ver never tested it but is this the scenario you're using?

Yes. I have been using OpenSSH Key logins for quite a while, so nothing new to me, just the change in Key encryption type to the recommended ED25519 type.
The page you referenced states it uses OpenSSH Key Files, but does not say which OpenSSH Key file encryption types (RSA, DSA, ECDSA, ED25519, SSH-1). The newer ED25519 key format has been available for a couple of years now, so it isn't that new.

I'm not that knowledgeable about it personally.
Hopefully Preran can ask his team if the newer ED25519 key format is currently supported in CC 2017. If it's not, maybe it can be added to the next update .

I am still waiting for a confirmation from the product team. Will post here as soon as I have something useful to say.

Would it be OK for you to try using Filezilla and letting us know if that worked? Like Nancy, I am guessing that this feature is probably planned for a future update.
You can also post on Adobe Dreamweaver CC: Feature Ideas to log your request with the product team. I don't remember seeing many questions on this topic here.
Thanks,
Preran

I can use WinSCP (what I use for all other secure file transfers to servers), I just lose some functionality of Dreamweaver in doing so, as it no longer has reference as to when files were last synced, etc. for web content.
