I can not get the FTP log to display. I do click on Site > Advanced > FTP Log but to no avail. I tried clicking on the little planet icon at the bottom of my site files, next to the Refresh button. Mousing over the Log icon gives me the hint "Refresh F5" if I click on it. I am running Dreamweaver 21.2 on Win 11. My laptop is up to date on both counts.

Ben,
Thank you for the suggestion. I followed your suggested path to find that the FTP Log is checked. But I still can't bring the log up to see it.
Additional information I just found: When I reboot Dreamweaver, mouse over the FTP (little earth) icon, it says "Click here to see File Activity window". But when I click, I get a message that says, "The file activity window is currently empty. Click here to see the file activity log after you perform tasks such as transferring or deleting files." It has an OK button, which I click. Then I transferred a file to my web server and tried to open the log, but the log still doesn't display. I also tried the Site > Advanced > FTP Log and still no log.
I'm not sure when this failure started. I used to be able to view the log. It may not have been working days or months, I usually don't need to look at it except when synchonizing a whole site and received the message that some files failed to upload. I do know the log would appear while uploading, but it no longer does this.
Should I return to a previous version?

Did you try to connect to an FTP server? The log is not historical and is intended to show you what is happening with your current connection if you are experiencing issues.

Update, I found something called FTP Log way down in the corner of my display, barely visible. I dragged it up to see the full window. It says it is FTP Log and it looks very code like, not the nice list of files that uploaded or failed. The first line says:
< 220--------Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS]--------
< 220-You are user number 10 or 150 allowed.
< 220-Local time is now 15:00. Server port: 21.
< 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
< 220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server.
< 220 You will be disconnected after 30 minutes of inactivity.
> USER jamiep5
< 331 User jamiep5 OK. Password required
> PASS
< 230 OK. Current restricted directory is /
> PWD
< 257 "/" is your current location
...and so on.
And it has lines with things like:
< drwxr-xr-x 22 jamiep5 jamiep5 4096 Jun 19 2016 images
< -rw-r--r-- 1 jamiep5 jamiep5 20386 Jan 12 10:53 index.html
which I haveno idea what the drwxr and rw-r-r mean.
But it isn't the log showing the files that were successful and unsuccessful. I'll keep poking around, but if you have any other ideas, I am open to suggestions.

Log files are all details about the transfer, there is nothing graphical in a log. All the codes you see 220/331/230/etc are all statuses returned by the server on the operations you are performing. What prompted you to want to look through it for an error. Was there a particular file that didn't upload or an error you received? This will help us to help you understand what you need to look for.

Maybe I'm not looking for an FTP log is it shows what I am seeing. I am looking for the log that shows files that successfulluy uploaded and files that failed.

The "Background File Activity" is what I am looking for. It is working on another laptop of mine, same Adobe license, and same version 21.2 on same WIndows 11. Both laptops are Dell.
