I know the video tutorials are the way to go (and I do use them) but I would like any suggestions of a good physical book to learn HTML and CSS for website design. I see a lot of them on AMAZON but I trust the people here more for advice on this issue

The problem with books is that they become obsolete very fast. Web standards and browsers are not standing still. You have to accept that this profession requires constant learning and re-learning to stay ahead of the curve.
Look for book editions that were published recently -- not 2 or 3 years ago.
Stay on top of recent developments through the Mozilla Developer's Network and the Word Wide Web Consortium websites.

I agree with all of that but I just want a physical book to reference for tag definitions, etc. I try to keep my eyes off of a digital screen as much as I can (which isn't much lol) these days to help preserve my eyesight. I weld for a living and that takes a toll. Thanks for the suggestion. Any others that someone has read and recommends?

I had a quick glance at the available books, but I am with Nancy on this. It is money down the drain. Get yourself a Retina or similar type of device and it will be as good as reading a book.
To add to Nancy's list, have a look at W3Schools Online Web Tutorials

Hi PrinceCorwin,
Given the information you provided, I would suggest:
"Learn to Code HTML and CSS - Develop and Style Websites — By Shay Howe"
You can also use the corresponding website along with the physical book, as you see fit.
This book will provide a solid foundation of core concepts from basic to advanced HTML & CSS, that you can then expand upon further with other resources moving forward when you have a solid understanding.
Again given your criteria I feel it would be a great book (and website) for you given your stated requests.

thanx WJT. Have you actually read the book you suggest? If so, did it hold your interest?

The website and book are a direct correlation of each other. Does the website content hold your interest? If so the book will also.
Here is an example excerpt from that book:

Here is the same example on the website:

Learning styles and preferences can differ greatly from person to person, in the end you need to determine what book is best for you. Most publishers offer a chapter excerpts like the one shown above for each book on their sites. So review those provided excerpts concerning the books you are looking at and see which best fits your learning style.
But again, that book is my recommendation to you, given your stated criteria.

Well, I really do appreciate all of the feedback... and I'm really trying not to get negative here but I must comment accordingly. I'm not looking for fatherly advice on how to shop for a book, or what features I should look for, or excerpts from google. And I'm definitely not trying to rehash that tired old argument of print vs ebook vs video. I love all three formats for different reasons.
Once again... Does anyone have a recommendation of a printed book on the subject that you have personally read?
If not, please stay off my thread.

Congratulations on completely misconstruing and disregarding someone trying to help you. Good luck with that approach?
I still recommend that book regardless of you not wanting to accept the recommendation or make the simple determination yourself with the above provided comparison.
Wow.

As stated above, printed books are outdated almost as soon as they come out. That's why you're not getting print suggestions here.
Learn CSS Flexbox and CSS Grids. However you do it is up to you.
Good luck!
