I am trying to copy/paste in Dreamweaver, and the paste function is no longer working. It used to work and then suddenly just stopped; I don't know if I did something to inactivate it or what happened.
I read that taking off "enable related files" but that didn't work either.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
I stated experiencing the same thing today with Dreamweaver CS4 on a Win7 Prof OS machine. I moved my Dreamweaver configuration folder from C:\Users\UserProfile\AppData\Roaming\Adobe out of that directory, reopened Dreamweaver so the config file basically recreated itself, and paste function now works.
Granted, I didn't have a bunch of configs/personalizations to Dreamweaver but you can always copy back over pieces of the original configuration folder that you moved until the paste function bre

What OS?
What happens when you try to paste?
Is it just the shortcut or the edit->paste as well?

Shut down DW and any other apps. Re-start your computer. Try again....
From which app(s) and what exactly are you trying to copy & paste into HTML?

I have added to this issue with more information regarding pasting not working anymore in DW. Any other solutions than restarting/shut down? Its not changing the situation. Removing prefernces and restarting, no change. It seems that the clipboard is not accessible in the document window unless paste sepcial is being used.

I am having the same problem in DW CS5/OSX 10.6.8. Started today, worked fine yesterday. Only change to system: There was an automatic firefox update that installed. I have run without firefox installed and going back 1 and 2 versions with no change.
Copy and paste still works in the properties panel. In the document pane in both design and code, paste(short cut, edit or contextual menu) do not work but the highlight and drag (move and option drag to copy) method still does but must be within the same document.
I can paste this info outside of DW, and when paste special is available in the contextual menu it works. this is not available in code view.
Have restarted and even full shut down MANY times. I have trashed all the preferences I could find that have been modified since yesterday. (and no I don't have time machine set up to go backwards)

Same problem here. Windows 7, DW CS5.5.
Keyboard shortcuts for copy/cut/paste function sporadically. I thought I was going crazy, but even pressing ctrl-x then pressing ctrl-v immediately afterwards results in nothing being pasted.
When paste does work, it trims all leading whitespace. If I copy a block of text, all spaces/line breaks that were before the first letter or number are not retained when I paste.
I'm used to DW being slow and buggy, but this might be the nail in the coffin. Custom keyboard shortcuts sometimes work, sometimes don't, but not being able to florking paste is a deal-breaker.

BlowPurp,
I'm trying to not do a system install, but am wondering if it may have to do with something from the security upgrades on firefox. That was the only change to my system when it stopped working and I had elayed doing it for a few days, hence the timelime with the original poster. I also thought it may be a mac issue, but the original poster did not inlude their platform. Now I know its not a mac thing (adobe has dropped the ball with making the software work completely for the newer OSX).
The white space issue may be one of the quirky things that it DW does. It doesn't allow multiple spaces, but I don't get the line breaks. Is this DW to DW copying or from outside DW?
I guess we have to help ourselves.

I never experienced this issue before this pasting problem occured.

Copying from DW to anywhere else.

I called Adobe; they walked me through some steps that completely fixed the
function.

I can't; there were multitudinous steps, all of which I didn't make note of;
they walked me through it the whole thing.
You should call them directly and they can do the same for you!

Can you give a summary? Did it just involve Dreamweaver? Did you reset your preferences?

No, it was very involved and they reset something on their end. If it was
just resetting preferences I would have indicated that.

I did finally figure this out for Mac. I created a new user to test to see if it was profile or system wide. It was just my account.
I copied the Configuration Files from the new account (user>library>application support>adobe>dreamweaver) and replaced them on my account. DW did not like it till I re-trashed the preferences.
I worked fo a month without copy and paste, wow, what we take for granted.

I am also unable to get Paste to work in CS5.5. It worked fine in CS5. I'm using 32 bit system w/ XP Pro. I've rebooted, but it does not work. I can not find the aforementioned directory - C:\Users\UserProfile\AppData\Roaming\Adobe. It just is not on my computer.

I can edit my pages in coding mode just fine.. but when i copy and paste in design mode, i get a few <p> paragraph tags instead of the actual code i want to display. Did the deed in the preferences reovals, etc and this doesnt not solve the problem.
Really need a solution and a fix to this.

If Dreamweaver is acting erratically, or if you see a message saying "the following JavaScript error(s) occurred", it's usually a sign of a corrupt cache file. The first thing to try should always be to delete the file cache. If that doesn't work, delete your personal Configuration folder. Full instructions are in Deleting a corrupted cache file.
