Since when is coding (in the code window) locked?

Just downloaded the latest version, opened my code and I want to remove a paragraph and modify some other things in the code but it's locked.  Can't make any changes in the code window.  How do I write code...the way I was taught to code back in the dark ages?

Looks like I was trying to edit a locked version...
