I just updated my entire pubs team to the Technical Communicator Suite 2, which includes FrameMaker 9. FrameMaker 9 crashes for some people when they try to save as PDF. For some reason, I am not experiencing this problem but others are. We all got new laptops and new software at the same time, so it is my belief that our systems are nearly identical. The error number is 7104, 6062898, 7693379, 0. I have already searched the forum and advised people to install the "hot fix." Nothing seems to help. This problem is beginning to impact productivity. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Thank you.

Can you give us more details about your FM9 p level, your O/S, memory, etc. Can you print to the Adobe PDF printer? Create PDFs in any other app like Word?

Thank you for the reply.
We are using FrameMaker 9.0p230.
System info is:
Window XP Professional
3.24 GB RAM
Yes, other apps print PDFs fine.

Ok, you're still a bit behind - p255 is the current one. Can you create a PDF if you print to the Adobe PDF printer?

No. We tried both Save As PDF and also selecting Adobe PDF as the printer and running it through Distiller. Same problem.

Two things to do:
First, get the patches that will take you current - to p255.
Second, download and install the Micrsoft Hotfix for PostScript printers on XP systems.

-- it applies to all PS printers, including the logical PDF.

Okay. Thank you for the advice. Do I have to install off the patches (9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.0.3, and 9.0.4) posted here?

Or just the last one (9.0.4)?

The patches must be installed in order, but I don't know which one corresponds to your current release level. So try to start with the first, and go from there... the lower numbered ones may not be required, but you won't know until you try to install 'em.

Okay. Thank you very much. I will give it try.

Hi everyone,
I was having the same problem with both FrameMaker 8 and FrameMaker 9. I'm running 32-bit Windows XP Professional on an office network. I installed the Microsoft Hotfix and it solved the problem. Thanks for posting this!
