Assigning master pages to body pages containing paragraph tags -- not working with tables

I am trying to use the "Assigning master pages to body pages containing paragraph tags" feature. I have a loooong table ... 10+ pages, and I want a custom master page to apply based on one of the paragraph tags in the table.

When I follow the instructions in the help, Frame applies the default master page, not my selected custom master page. This leads me to believe that it is a problem with the Paragraph tag name in the UnstructMasterPageMaps. To test, I changed the Paragraph tag name to Body and the feature worked as expected.

Can you use this feature with a Paragraph tag that is applied inside a table? If so, how?

Thank you.

    Hi, Nicole:

I haven't tested this, but it may be a useful beginning step:

Have you tried anchoring the tables in a dedicated paragraph format, and specifying this anchor paragraph in the Master Page Mapping Table?

    Shlomo,

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I guess I will have to make the table a separate file and use the book function to pull it into my final document.

    Thanks again,

The Apply Master Pages function ignores paragraphs in tables (body, heading rows or title), footnotes, text frames in anchored frames.

    Hi Arnis,

Thank you for the reply. My UnstructMasterPageMaps table contains the following info:

    Paragraph Tag Name
    Term

Right-Handed Master Page (or Single-Sided Master Page)
    Glossary

    Left-Handed Master Page

Range Indicator (Single, Span pages, Until changed)
    Single

    Comments
This adds the Glossary master page to all pages that use the Term paragraph tag. This is designed to include the A-Z links at the top of each page of the Report Glossary.

I have checked, re-checked and double-checked spacing, spelling, and capitalization to no avail. It all seems to be correct.

Again, when I change the Paragraph Tag Name from Term to Body, the feature works as expected (adds the "Glossary" Master Page to every page that has the Body para tag on it.)

I only use the Term para tag inside table cells, though (The Body para tag is never used inside a table cell). This is what led me to believe that perhaps the feature does not work when the para tag is inside a table.

    What do you think?

    Thank you!

What does the table entry for this mapping look like in your
MasterPage mapping table on the reference page? FM is case-sensitive
for naming conventions, so your paratag entry must match exactly in
the table to the spelling in the paragraph catalog. Same goes for the
MasterPage name that you want to map to.
