Changing a Header-Footer Variable for a book

New Here ,
Sep 23, 2008 Sep 23, 2008
I have nearly completed a 650 page, 13 chapter chemistry text. In each of the 13 chapters on one of the master pages I have created a Header and Footer variable I named recipient. It currently reads This copy created for Persons Name. The only way that I have been able to change Persons Name to someone else is to open each chapter, go to the correct Master Page, click on Headers and Footers and make the change. Is there some way that in the book mode I can do that and modify all 13 recipient variables at once?

Caution: I started this some years ago on a Mac so I am stuck with FrameMaker 6 in OS9.

I haven't worked in 6 for a long time, but I think the procedure hasn't changed.

Change the variable in one of the chapters. Save it.

In the book file, select all the chapters but the updated one, and do File > Import > Formats, checking only the Variables checkbox.

Import and save all the files.

Thank you very much! It worked so easily! And it opens a window for me, in terms of book-wide changes that are possible for which I was unaware.

Thanks again.
