Chapter Numbers in FM10

Guest

I just started using FM10 and am having difficulty getting it to automatically input the chapter numbers. Is there a secret to getting FM to do this?

Thanks,

Leah

Do you mean within a book, or as a field in the text?

For some reason, numbering within a document in FM does not work.

Select the book and then right click on each file in the book (or select multiple files if your system is simple enough), select numbering and do as you normally would.

Once you've set up the numbering, click 'Update Book'.

Let us know if this works/makes sense.

It DOES work in a document but is meaningless when the document is part of a book. The reason being that a document can be used in several books and at different places in each book. So, the safest approach is to let the book handle the numbering. The up side is that one does not need to set the numbering for each document in the book separately.
