Arnis, you probably need to completely delete that "Preparing documents for accessibility" CH thread, rather than just lock it.

My response and your response (but, curiously, not the empty basenote), show up as discussion on the referenced Help page.

I also see apparently active Reply links there, with no indication of locking (and I don't plan to test them).

Is this a broken Help feature that accidently got turned on/discovered, or is it expected that, once debugged, users will be able to initiate and/or respond to discussions from Help pages?

It could turn out to be a handy way for users to clarify or expand upon Help content.

It could also cause Help pages to get cluttered with the sort of topic drift that is all too common on the internet (particularly if forum users don't realise that their responses are logged elsewhere). Presumably some web wardens will keep an eye on it.

This topic has been closed for replies.
Correct answer Arnis Gubins

Yes, the kinks (at least most of them) have been worked from the system. All comment postings to the Community Help will echo into the appropriate Forum and responses will also appear back in the Community Help. [Adobe's way of crowdsourcing deficiencies in their current documentation]

I locked it for now so that one can see these posts starting and hopefully not continue answering them.

It is a new feature to integrate the Community Help with the Forums, but somehow "empty" posts are being triggered by some mechanism that hasn't been clearly identified.

It can be a useful feature to clarify and expand on the Help (and hopefully the product tech writers will jump on these and roll them into the documentation). However, it also adds to hosting responsibilites to clean out any thread drift and irrelevant comments.

For now, "empty" posts will be deleted as they are spotted. If you do spot any empty ones, click on the Report Abuse button to bring it to the hosts' attention in the moderation queue.

Well, we have our first CH post with an actual question attached (as the first reply):

About books

Is it now safe to reply to these things?

Not that I have an answer in this case, never having used the

Hierarchical Books feature that apparently sailed in with FM9

(although I might suggest selecting all the book component

files before doing the Update Book).
