Configuration Management of Graphics

New Here ,
Apr 13, 2008 Apr 13, 2008
We are using FrameMaker 7.2 on a networked pc using windows. Our documents are large (2000 pages) and across the suite of manuals we use between 3000 and 4000 graphics. Can anyone recommend a software solution to managing the configuration. Which graphics are used and where.

They have developed a documentant management software that:

1) extracts information from FM files in terms of:

1) images
2) text insets
3) a number of different markers

*you can see all images/textinsets used in a FM file.

* you can see all images/textinsets used in a BOOK

* you can see all images/textinsets from FM files in folders

*you can click on an image/text-inset and jump to the correct position in the FM files

*you can attach meta data to the image/text inset for easy search and retrieval

* you can insert images/text insets from the application into the FM files

* you can determine in which context images are inserted (which Paratag etc)

you can upload images into the application and from there into the FM files

amongst others ....

Hi:

Regarding "can you confirm the address or give me an alternative?"

I've put this out before, but I'll add it again because it's so darn useful.

For situations where you need to post an email address in a public place, use Trashmail.net to create a temporary, disposable email address that will time out after a specific number of days or forwards:

http://www.trashmail.net/

If you use Firefox there's a really nifty Trashmail add-in (nee extension) that allows you to right-click on a form field and choose "Paste temporary email address". The add-in is fully integrated with Trashmail's options...

Cheers & hope this helps,
Riley
