I need to copy a large amount of text from Framemaker 11 documents to Captivate 6 within the Tech Comm 4 suite. I was able to copy and paste in one session, but have since been unable to copy and paste directly from Framamaker to Captivate. I called support and they were unable to help, and not willing to open a ticket. I am running Windows 7. Anyone have any thoughts on settings or methods to copy text in Framemaker and paste it into Captivate?

Have you tried the right-click, Ctrl-c, and Edit > Copy methods for copying, and their corresponding methods for pasting?
If so, you may be able to change the maker.ini to copy plain text, or try posting this in the CPT forum.

I have tried the three copy/paste methods to no avail. I started down the maker.ini route only to run up against admin privileges and decided to ask for help...I posted this also in the Captivate forum.
Thanks Matt!

Are you attempting to copy just the plain text, or the formatting as well?
If just the plain text, open a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad
select the text, or Edit > Select All in Flow
Edit > Copy
paste into Notepad
copy again from Notepad and paste into Captivate
If you are trying to capture the formatting, try
Edit > Copy Special > [ pick an option ]
Also investigate whether Captivate has any Paste Special capabilities.

We have so much text we're hoping to find a way without adding notepad as another step, but it looks like what we might have to do...also, notepad loses special characters such as the raised two indicating a square.

How is that implemented?
If it's a normal "2" with a SuperScript character format, it may not survive copy/paste in several scenarios.
If it's a Unicode U+00B2, even if implemented as a variable, I'd expect it to survive copy/paste in any workflow that supports Unicode at every step.

Well, it seems we're going to have to paste into notepad, which is disappointing. Thanks for your help everybody!
