Hello all,
I am new to FM and just installed 2022.
The home screen is not displaying correctly and looks like this:
I spent hours with tech support yesterday and the only solution that they came up is that I need full admin priviledges to get the buttons to display properly. This seems like an unusual fix, this computer spends most of its time connected to the company network and they don't give out admin rights to just anybody.
I've changed display settings, aspect ratios, scaling, FM properties, and other settings as it relates to display issues. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a permissions issue? A corrupt FM download perhaps? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated at this point. Thank you.

Shouldn't need it on the domain. But if you've installed it (explicitly specifying full admin) with full admin rights and tried running it as an admin (right click) and it's still not looking right, I think you're back to what Adobe is telling you. Did you contact the FM folks directly? See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#framemaker for your Adobe Support options. I'd recommend using the tcssup@adobe.com e-mail address as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Com

Was FM installed with full admin rights?

Yes, I actually have full local admin rights on the computer FM is installed on, but not on the domain. This is the first time I've ever experienced issues with an install.

I did a live chat that started on the Adobe support page and I was transferred about four times so I'm not sure exactly where I ended up as far as support. I will try the connections you suggested and see what happens. Thank you Jeff, I really appreciate the help.

Yeah, you probably got the general Support people - that email I listed is the better approach. Reference this thread.

Update. I opened a case with FM support and after much back and forth with a case manager and all the usual things not fixing the problem, I ended up doing a remote session with him. Long story short, he changed a registry setting and it fixed the display problem. Unfotunately, he did it so fast that I didn't see exactly what he did, so I can't offer details. In the end it is fixed.

Update. This is an ongoing issue that has not been fully resolved, but essentially given up on. Adobe support could only offer the following as a band-aid, but I have to change this setting before I open Framemaker...every time. Probably a useless quick-fix for anyone who doesn't have admin rights on their machine, but here it is anyway:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Security_HKLM_only
The key is assigned the value "1", change to "0".
It is a dynamic setting, apparently, because it will revert back to the default "1" multiple times during any given day. The IT department here has no idea either. I have the location saved and it only takes a few clicks to change, and it works, so I just live with it. I even showed this to Barb Binder during some training and it was a new one for her in all her experience too. I'm just lucky I guess.
Happy writing.

Hi, Dan ( @Dan Eales ),
on my PC with Win10 22H2 I don't have that named registry key/value in the named place with or without FM 2022 running.
But searching the registry I find that key (Security_HKLM_only) within the PolicyManager part of the registry.
So I think it is a security setting managed through policy-rules made by your IT.
And that is why your registry changes do not persist.
So in my opinion your IT guys are in charge to change the related setting.
Regards
Stephan
