Is there a way I can change the default font on all of my documents without having to open each document?

    If you also want to specify tthat FM subsitute unkown fonts for your desired default font, then you need to modify the maker.ini entry for:

    DeafultFamily=Times New Roman, Tms Rmn

    If you're talking about existing documents, then there is no "default" font per se. All fonts are define in the catalog entries. You would need to create a template file with your desired fonts defined in your tags and import that template into your documents.

    without having to open each document?

    If you are talking about changing the default font for future new documents,

    open the file fminit\custom (note that it has no extension) and change the

    font there, then save the file. Close and reopen FrameMaker. Future new

    documents will have the specified font as default.

    How do you open the fminit/custom file? It is blank when I open it in FrameMaker and garbage when I open it in a text editor.

    Thanks,

    The fminit\custom file is just a FM file without the file extension. You said that you've already opened it. There is no content, only definitons for tags and tables (and reference frames). You need to change the fonts used in the defined tags via the designers.
