Format Body Text

New Here ,
Oct 14, 2023 Oct 14, 2023

I am using a side hide for chapter titles for a recipe collection. I use this as practice space for my homework. I want to be able to have all of the headings to be consistent. However, everytime that I try to do this, all of the text goes from the main body in the centre over to the left side where the side head is. Luckily, I can usually change it back.

What is happening here and how can I fix it?

Hi Penny:

In a sidehead document, a paragraph has three possible locations: it can appear in the main column, the sidehead column or straddle both. These settings are found in the list in Paragraph Designer > Pagination:

  • In Column
  • Sidehead
  • Across all Columns and Sidehead

FrameMaker requires that we work with paragraph styles and you will need to use a minimum of two for this situation. Your headings should be assigned a paragraph style set to Sidehead, and the instructions/ingredients should be assigned a paragraph style set to In Column.

For the side head Paragraph Format [ChaterTitle.SH {or similar}], to minimize annoyance, be sure to set:
/Basic\
☑ Next Paragraph Tag:

[ Body {or as desired} ]

so that when the side head is entered, you automagically are then working on the main flow body text.
