Framemaker 10 installation errors

I have been trying everything to install Framemaker 10 and I keep getting the same errors:

FATAL ERROR: Cannot create extract assets at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\adobeTemp\{0D067D13-C3D7-4EA6-B346-740CD91FD547}' from zip file 'C:\Users\[user name]\Desktop\Adobe CS5 Design Standard\Adobe CS5\payloads\AdobeBridge4-mul\Assets1_1.zip'

I tried all the procedures suggested by Adobe Support Advisor, and I tried calling tech support.

The tech support person suggested that teh problem was due to my installation of Acrobat Professional. So I tried installing Framemaker 10 without the Acrobat creator add-on. That didn't work. I tried uninstalling Acrobat Professional and then installing Framemaker 10. It still doesn't work. I have rebooted my computer multiple times between the various attempts. I have uninstalled the broken Framemaker 10 between attempts.

Is there anything else I can try? Does anyone have any more ideas why this install won't work?

(Windows 7).

Thanks,

Hugh.

Hugh,

The path for that zip file seems a bit funky for FrameMaker. Typically the Assets1_1.zip file should be in the \Setup\payloads\AdobeFrameMaker10_en_US folder (for US installations - or other locale specific folders: DE, GB, FR, JP, LI ).

The detailed log of your installation should be found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\ folder and it will be in a gzipped file that is named something like this: "Adobe FrameMaker 10 10 [install date here].log.gz" (where the install date forrmat is mm-dd-yyyy).

Have a look in this file for more details on what is happening and perhaps why FM can't extract the files to the specified location (I'm assuming all of the usual suspects, like installing with full admin priviliges, having sufficient space, having write access to the location, etc. were covered by your tech support session)?

Are you installing from a packaged DVD or a download? If it is from a download, have you tested the integrity of the downloaded zip to ensure that it isn't corrupted?

I have now retried, but I selected “international English” as the language (instead of English – US) and the installation worked. I intend to continue with this installation (because I have to get on with work) and try to fix whatever new problems I encounter in the future.

If you are on a domain .tell your IT guy to login and install Framemaker selecting NA English and you would be able to do it.

If you are getting payloads error as i can see in the post by crazyDef,what you can do is,goto the payload folder and install all the payloads manually, you might not be able to install couple of them but thats fine.

After installing payloads manually, stop all the third party services from msconfig except the microsoft services, restart computer and install Framemaker.
