Hopefully there is a simple solution to this issue.
Running Framemaker 19 and recently I can select text and place my cursor in the file, but I cannot type, delete text, change formatting, etc.
We've ruled out the file being locked and the keyboard being broken, but other than that we're stumped. Restarting everything didn't work either.
Thanks!

You're talking about FM2019, right? You've ruled out the file being made read-only too? not checked into source control? Does it behave if you start a new doc?

Just tried opening a new doc. Still not working. Doesn't seem to be an issue with the file. We tried it on another computer and were able edit it. The issue seems to only be occuring on the one.

If it fails on a new doc on one machine, then something messed up that machine - try renaming your C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\{version}\ folder and restarting FM (see https://techcommtools.com/find-framemaker-preference-folder/)

Just tried to find that folder. There are previous version folders, but nothing for 19. Noting on the computer with issues and the computer without.
Side note, the issue seems to be sporatic. 9/10 times you open a file you can't edit anything. The one time it's fine and it's like the issue never happened.

FM2019 = internal version 15

Jeff means that you should rename C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\15\ to C:\Users\{user_name}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\15.old\ and then start FM.

Can you use File>Import>File to pull your odd doc into a new Fm file?

Could it be that there is a dialog which wants to be confirmed or canceled, and as long as you do not click it, you cannot select text nor edit anything?
You could shrink the size of the FrameMaker window and then open a file or create a new file.
You said that you get this issue even, when you open a new document. Do you mean that you created a new document?
Do you use structured FrameMaker with DITA or any other structure application?
Or unstructured FrameMaker?
When you create a new file or open an existing one, how does your window look like? Do the pods open?
When you can open some of the files, is there anything special with these files? Fonts? Referenced graphics files?

Are you sure you posted to the right thread? This one has to do with editing a FrameMaker document, nothing to do with Photos.

I too am having this same issue Jordan_5 is having, for the last 6 months or so. My text/pointer cursor does not seem to recognize immediately when it is placed in text, so it lingers like there's a film between it and the text. This really slows down the process. When this happens repeatedly I resort to the "T" text tool to give it a more seemingly focused grip. This did not happen when I first loaded Framemaker 2019. I will try the fix mentioned above and see what happens. Thanks
