I am still using FrameMaker 6. I have not been on this forum in several years. I hope it is OK to ask here about an old product
I am trying to get hypertext to work in my book index. Hypertext seems to work fime in my TOC.
In the Index, when I hold Alt & Ctrl keys, the cursor changes to a pointing finger but nothing happens when I click on a page number in the index.
I tried Esc v h to check the index file and it gives me the following error:

The hypertext command 'newlink Symbols' on Body page 348 will not work.
The named destination 'Symbols' is already being used elsewhere in this document.

Can anyone help me get it fixed?

I did not find the source of the problem, but I was able to get hypertext in the index working.
I deleted the IX file from the book, added a standard index file, and specified it use Suffix IX2 rather than IX. The hypertext links in the index now work. The key seemed to be not to use the Suffix IX in my book.
