Framemaker 7.1 Replacing Master Pages

New Here ,
May 25, 2011 May 25, 2011

Hello,

we are using FrameMaker 7.1.

I have books with many files. No we want to change the layout of the pages, starting with the header and footers.

How can I replace the master pages of all files with a new master page file?

Thank you for your support.

Edit one of the component .fm files to revise the Master Pages, say:

chapter1.fm.

In the .book menu, select (highlight) all of other book component files except chapter1.fm.

File > Import > Formats

Import from Document: [chapter1.fm]

  • Page Layouts (only)
  • [Import]

Caution: it is often the case that the book was done as separate files because some require different MP layouts, particularly for default pages "Left" and "Right" (the index might be 3-column, for example). Unless you know that all layouts are common, you can wreck the book.
