FrameMaker 7.2 and Acrobat X Pro

Upgrading to 64 bit Xp OS and loaded Acrobat X Pro.

Don't seem to be able to do the ol "Save As" PDF anymore, just spins and outputs no files, does not even launch distiller X?

We try and do the Print Book, you can get the pdf output after jumping thru 4-5 hoops (select print, select pdf setup, create .ps file, select .ps file and let distiller do it's work).

Please advise if there is a one step process to go from FrameMaker 7.2 to pdf via X pro.

Thanks

Carl

Well, yes, the setup changed a number of times since FM 7 was released...

Bottom line is if you have the Adobe PDF printer set as your system default printer, you should be able to:

  1. Go into the Book File.
  2. Do File > Print (or Book Print).
  3. On the Print dialog box, check Generate Acrobat Data and UNCHECK Print To File.
  4. Print.

You should be prompted for the path and file name to which to save.

Per your original message, the "PDF Setup" should be sticky; you should be able to set it once and forget it.

The manual steps you're doing to create the PS file and then manuall distill it are unncessary if you follow the default procedure.

Cheers,

Art

Using the forum search with string:

framemaker 7.2 xp pdf

turns up quite a bit, most recently:

Acrobat 10 Compatible with FrameMaker7.2?
