I'm considering buying a new laptop and was wondering if anyone knows whether Framemaker 8 will run OK under a 64-bit operating system.

I know it runs fine on Windows XP and 7 64-bit flavors, and others have reported success with Vista.

Thanks Art. That's good to know about Windows 7 since I'd be upgrading to that later. I was a little concerned about running the app on a 64-bit OS having seen several comments on the Web about incompatible software and hardware upon buying a newer model computer.

Follow-up question: What about licensing?

I have FM installed on a desktop and a laptop under Win XP 32-bit. Recently, I installed a 64-bit OS (Win7) on a 2nd hard disk on the desktop. I can boot to Win XP 32-bit or to Win 7 64-bit on the desktop.

Can I install and register the same FM to the 64-bit partition without problem? Of course, I'd still be using only one instance of FM at a time, but I'd have 3 installations.
