When I publish to HTML or HTML5, FrameMaker changes the lang tag to lang="ja-JP" in the HTML output.
My question: Is there another language setting? I must be missing something. Thank you for your assistance.

What language was selected when FM was installed (if known)?

Thank you for answering. I'm fairly certain I installed the English version.

Try saving the two misbehaving .fm files as MIF to .mifs, open those with a plain text editor, and search for instances of "jp".

And no Text Insets that might be bringing in anything odd?

No Text insets used. I think that I need to look at the .sts file, but I don't know what program to use to view it. Thank you for answering my questions. If you know how to edit an .sts file, please let me know. Thanks!!!

This is an odd behaviour and not one I recognise. My - guessing! - would go along the lines of the font use. Might it be that you for instance are using MS Gothic or Mincho somewhere in the documents? Like on a reference / master page? Judging from your explanation it doesn't sound likely, I know...

Thanks so much. I looked for MS Gothic and no dice. I don't have Mincho installed. I was surprised when I changed the character format to look for MS Gothic that the language turned to Japanese in the Search panel. I would not have guessed that. Thank you.
