FrameMaker not recognizing/opening files when working remotely.

When I am working remotely (on my work laptop, connected to a Meraki), I have issues with FrameMaker book files. When trying to update book files, I will get errors saying that Frame can't open certain files, or that certain files are not FrameMaker documents (all the files in my Frame books are Frame files). Is there something about a remote connection that FrameMaker doesn't like? Any advice/workarounds/fixes would be much appreciated.

I suspect the amount of lag in accessing the files off the server is the cause of your grief. Pre-pandemic I would RDP into my workstation in the office (that had FM on it) and access the files on our server - that made for good performance and no issues because it was like being in the office. When we closed our office down, trying to access the files via VPN was painful, so I ended up moving the files locally to my laptop at home.

Not being familiar with Meraki, is it being used for storage (files) or just as the network connection to your (presumably remote) files?

And do confirm that FM is running locally on on the laptop (and what version of FM).

Frame 2020, version 16.0.5. Yes, a Meraki is the connection to the company network. Frame runs locally on the laptop.

And where are the FM files located? Do you have any source control at play?
