Hello,
We want to print PDF in PDF. We place drawings in PDF format in MIF files. After creating a PDF via FrameMaker, some elements are rastered. If we use EPS instead of PDF for the drawings, no elements are rastered. Does anyone have an idea why FrameMaker rasterises elements or how we can avoid this?

Some questions here...
Why do you place the drawings in mif files? Why are you not using fm files?
I would not expect rasterisation to happen in the publishing process. Are you sure that the pdf versions of your drawings are the same as those in eps?
You might try converting your drawings to svg rather than pdf/eps. Svg is a good format for line drawings.

What app is producing the PDF and/or MIF?
Are you using Adobe drivers, or something else when producing PDF?

Hi Marvin,
Are your graphics in the imported PDF all vector drawings?
And only when it is imported, then the vector drawing is converted to raster?
Or is the drawing in the original PDF also a raster drawing, only with a better resolution?
When I see your screenshots, it looks, as if this is only a display artefact. Do you get your issue also with different zoom levels in Acrobat? There is a setting in Acrobat to display lines differently depending on the zoom level.
Best regards, Winfried
