Hi,
I want to embed a video in a FrameMaker document, so that I can play it in the resulting PDF.
Some years ago I had done this, and the video in that PDF cannot be played any longer.
In the forums (FrameMaker and Acrobat) I did not find out what the current status is. Most comments were negative.
Can I embed videos in FrameMaker?
Which video format can I use?
Anything special when I insert the video in FrameMaker?
Is it possible to play videos in Acrobat with the default settings?
Best regards, Winfried

Hi Winfried, I'm going off of memory here, but when creating the new feature videos the past few versions, I recall issues with embedding video in the doc. Aside from MP4 being the only supported format, I recall not succeeding in PDF output.
Thus, using Insert>Multimedia>Online Video is my preferred way to incorporate video into Fm projects. Along with YouTube, I believe you can use Vimeo links (and perhaps other hosting services) as well.

I have just tried with and without poster graphic and with and with out Distiller. Seems to work ok, almost. Poster graphic not really being hidden when video is playing, though. As @Matt-Tech Comm Tools says Insert->Multimedia.

Thank you very much for your hints!
I inserted a test video in MP4 format (via Insert | Multimedia) and saved it as PDF.
When I clicked the video in Acrobat, Acrobat said at the top of the document:
Some features had been disabled to avoid potential security risks. Only enable these features if you trust this document.
Then I can "trust" via an option button in the same bar.
I do not know, if my users will know that they have to click on this option button and then again on the video. I will have to discuss this with my manager.
Yes. The poster graphic is not completely hidden behind the video.
And I did not see anything to pause the video.
Thank you very much for your help!
