How do I generate ToC from my DITAMAP?

Hello,

I have a DITAMAP. Here I have mapped the xml files that I wanted. Now before printing as PDF, I want a ToC at the top. Is there any way of getting the ToC directly from DITAMAP or do I have to first generate a book out of the DITAMAP? Can you please help me out with some steps?

Hi ,

TOC is always generated on the basis of a Book,so i beleive you have to convert the Ditamap to book and then generate TOC.

We can also save ditamap into XML however ,no TOC would be generated as TOC is always a part of a book.

The reason according to me is the TOC is always generated on the basis of heading of other paragraph formats and Ditamap contains of attributes and elements and TPC cannot be generated on the basis of elements.

So have to save Ditamap as Book.
