I am not sure what the exact term is called, but is there a way to select words in FM without selecting the entire paragraph?
I posted an example of what I mean in the screenshot. In MS Word, I can do this by selecting the first word, and then holding down the CTRL key and selecting more. I need this function because I am applying styles to individual words in the character designer and it is time consuming to do it one section at a time. I apologize if this has been posted before. I could not find the exact keyboard shortcut I needed in the FM help info.

Hi Angela, I do in FrameMaker exactly, what you do in Word. Press CTRL+SHIFT+arrow key. Then you select the current word. When you press the arrow key again, FrameMaker selects also the following word.
Everything is described in the online help in the appendix.
Best regards, Winfried

Ah, but @Winfried Reng , that's contingous text. The OP wants to do something like this in the bold parts:
Yes, Yes, without the oops! Jaguar shark! So tell me - does it really exist? I was part of something special. Must go faster. God help us, we're in the hands of engineers. Hey, take a look at the earthlings. Goodbye! Yes, Yes, without the oops! Yeah, but John, if The Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don’t eat the tourists.

Thank you for this. I was able to use this for another purpose, but yeah, unfortunately I need the version that Jeff mentions in the next comment. Thank you, anyway though! 😄

Nope, but you're welcome to use the Tracker (https://tracker.adobe.com/) to make a suggestion to the FM folks as an improvement.

My company might move away from FM since we only use it for one document at the moment, but I will still make the suggestion because I think it should definitely be added. Thank you for sending me this.

There is a good explanation here, from an old thread. Rather than try to select numerous words using the mouse, use the search function. This works like a charm.

This would work for some of my purposes, but unfortunately not all of them. We use this to apply document conventions to user selections/clicks. I could use this suggestion for these options. So things like the following. The button the user clicks needs to be bolded in the documentation:
1. Click Apply.
2. Click Next.
Sometimes, though, it is more complicated words or long strings of text such as file names. I have to apply formatting to those that make the font courier new instead of Arial which is our default.

You may want to take a look at my TextFormatter script, which was designed with this in mind.
