I am opening some older FM documents I am working on for a client. I get the below error message when opening the documents in FrameMaker 2022.

.... And I am not really sure what FrameMaker wants me to do here?

-------------------------

The spelling provider Hunspell for the language German - Germany (2006 Reform) does not match the session settings.
The hyphenation provider Hunspell for the language German - Germany (2006 Reform) does not match the session settings.
New dictionary settings will apply, which may affect the text layout.

----------------------------

Can anyone explain?

Best regards

Hi,

My guess is that the original document was created using a different provider of German spelling dictionaries and hyphenation algorithms in FM than Hunspell. When it is opened now, and it can't find the original dictionaries and algorithms, it warns that with Hunspell it will re-spellcheck and re-hyphenate, which can lead to different linebreaks and/or spelling than the original settings.

I think you are right, @MAT1 . And I do remember there was quite a lot of discussion about the introduction of proper german spelling and hyphenation in the last release.
