Hi,
I am learning Structured FrameMake 9r, I am facing a problem.
When I import element definitions File > Import > Element Definitions... > Import Element Definitions (Open and select the EDD file from the drop-down list) > Click Import> (Message displayed) Element Definitions have been imported from EDD. However, the STRUCTURE VIEW remains blank and it continues to be blank even when I start filling the content.
I have created the EDD by following the instructions given in DEVELOPING STRUCTURED APPLICATIONS WITH ADOBE® FRAMEMAKER® 9, The Element Definition Document, page 27 to page 33
Am I missing any step here or should I do some modifications to the blank document to which I am importing the EDD. I am facing the same issue when I import the EDD to a template.
Can someone guide me to resolve this issue?
Thanks and Regards,
Anu

Anu,
I believe you are doing it correctly. And you are supposed to do the same import into your template. I have FrameMaker 9 and what you are doing is the way I do it.
Are you entering content into the text frame on the page? Are you adding elements via the Element Catalog? When you click inside the text frame, do you see elements listed in the Element Catalog, and are some of them checked to indicate that they are acceptable at the insertion point?
These sound like trivial questions, but I have a difficult time thinking of what could be wrong. So, I am trying the obvious ones.

Anu,
Did you get this figured out? To add to what Van said, any flow in a FrameMaker document remains unstructured by default, even if an EDD is imported. You have to initiate the generation of a structure tree by selecting all contents of some particular flow (usually the main flow), and then wrapping the contents with a highest-level element using the Element Catalog. If the flow is empty, you can just stick your insertion point in there and insert the element. Once a highest-level element is there, the flow remains structured from then on and requires the use of element insertions to add additional content.

1. Import EDD to a new document.(Ensure that EDD is valide.)
2. Open Elements catalog....
3.Then you can find Document with heavy check. Click "insert"
4.Now you can see structure tree and start your work.
