Question

Importing Files to Book Reversed?

This has been an issue for a long time, wondering if it can be fixed or if there is a work around.

When batch importing files into a new unstructured book, the files always import in the reverse order of what they need to be.  i.e.:

1.fm

2.fm

3.fm

In explorer will import as:

3.fm

2.fm

1.fm

Is there a way to batch import files so that I don't have to reorder the book every time?

Thanks.

This is obviously a quirk of Windows File Explorer. I do not use it normally, but the alternative xplorer² from Zabkat (Zabkat LTD, Frosia House, Evagorou & Menandrou, 1066 Nicosia, Cyprus).

Selecting the first file and then holding shift and clicking on the others one by one, then dragging the whole set to the new book yields

    • correct order when source is xplorer²
    • reverse order when source is Windows File Explorer.

When I start the selection from 'bottom to top', then I get

    • the same order as in the first case when source is  xplorer²
    • a mangled up order when source is Windows File Explorer.

So the problem definetely is in Windows File Explorer

I am not sure if this will work, but try reverse sorting in Explorer and then importing into FrameMaker. Or try drag-and-drop from Explorer and see what happens.
