In Memory of Klaus Daube

I wanted to share the sad news that our friend and forum member, Klaus Daube, passed away on March 3rd at the age of 82. Some of you may have noticed his absence in recent months. Klaus Göbel, Thomas Becker, and I each tried to reach him, and we eventually received confirmation from his family.

Klaus was not only a dedicated and very skilled FrameMaker user, but he also developed very advanced, complex ExtendScript scripts that benefited so many in this community. He generously shared his expertise and was always willing to help others, offering guidance with patience and precision.
I had the pleasure of meeting Klaus several times at the tcworld/tekom conferences in Stuttgart, Germany, where his enthusiasm was evident to everyone around him.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

@Klaus Göbel  will host the FrameMaker part of Klaus Daube's website with so many infos. He will inform us, when this is online.

Klaus had an explanation for everything and an idea for a solution.

His creativity flowed equally into his craftsmanship and his programming.

He touched many people with his joy in his fellows and his many social commitments.

His willingness to help was immense. He could fix anything, and he loved creation.

His greatest treasures were his beloved Inge, his passion for reading and researching, and his faith.

He taught us humility and confidence.

My deepest sympathy to Klaus's family, friends, and colleagues. I was always impressed with his thoroughness and persistence in his work. He always gave credit when using code or ideas from others. His vast FrameMaker knowledge and documentation have helped me and many others over the years. Klaus will be missed. Even though we never met, I considered him a friend.

Hi Winfried, I wasn't familiar with Klaus, but I saw you mention a Thomas Becker. I knew someone of that name many years ago and I'm just wondering if you have contact details, on the slim chance it's the same person.

Sad news to read.

As @frameexpert wrote he was an expert with a huge in-depth-knowledge about FrameMaker.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

He will be missed.

My condolences to Klaus's family and friends. Over the years Klaus has helped me numerous times with his deep knowledge, kindness and enormously systematic approach to problem solving. He will be missed by me and others in this community.

I suspect that the resource I relied on the most was the FM history page.

Wow - so sad to hear this news. I would have known earlier if this silly forum software didn't keep turning off my "Follow" instructions randomly.

Klaus was an incredible resource here on the FM forum and in the prerelease program. I wonder if @Stefan Gentz knows the news.

Ever since he joined the Adobe Community Expert Program back in 2021 he's given so much of his invaluable time to helping others in this community. He will be missed, rest in peace, @K.Daube

I am so sad to read this, @Winfried Reng but grateful that you let us know. I had been wondering why we hadn't seen his contributions lately, but in the midst of our chaotic move, hadn't started the steps to figure out why. I too would like to express my condolences to his family and friends and to this community—he will be missed.

I remember a conversation I had with @Lin Sims years ago. I said something to the effect that no one knows everything about FrameMaker, and she replied with, @K.Daube does. She was right and that's how I thought of Klaus from that point forward: so very knowledgeable, and so very generous with his knowledge.

Really sad to hear this. @Winfried Reng thank you very much to let us know.
Klaus was an incredible FM master. His documentation was always very helpful for me. Not only while I was learning FM, but also during my whole work with FM. My condolences to his family.
