Installation problem (internal error 2229) : the solution

If any of you have got that "internal error 2229" when trying to install FrameMaker 8 in French on a PC with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 (SP3), the solution is simple : uninstall SP3 to return to SP2, install the software and re-update to SP3.

    In some cases it might be easier to download the trial version installer from the Adobe web site, that does not have the mentioned problem with SP3. You can use your serial to transform the trial version into a full version.
