I have a client that has a bunch of IDU files, which I understand are Interleaf documents. They are looking for someone that can convert them to PDF. Please contact me if you are interested in doing this and I will connect you with the client. Thank you.

As I recall, Interleaf became QuickSilver, which was Broadvision {.com} and is now apparently aurea {.com}. It claims “QuickSilver greatly extends the capabilities of traditional Interleaf technology (acquired by BroadVision in 2000) and is fully compatible with Interleaf 6 and 7.”
And that's more than I know about it. The one time I had to convert an Interleaf document {back} to .fm, was over 30 years ago, and I don't recall any automated tools being available then.

From BroadVision's website:
Due to the acquisition of BroadVision, including its QuickSilver product, by Aurea software, the QuickSilver issues are now handled by Aurea. Please contact them at
- dealdesk@aurea.com if it is related to a new purchase.
- renewals@aurea.com if it is related to license renewal.
- call +1-833-379-2578 if you need further assistance.
Maybe they have a demo/trial version. (Don't tell them your true intentions... 😜)
I thought Interleaf/Quicksilver was structured but it's been a while since I looked at it. Perhaps the files can be converted that way?

There is also a bunch of fellows in Bulgaria claiming to be the true Interleaf inheritors:

Opticentre appears to be a DTP services enterprise, and not selling software.
They apparently have FM, ID and Interleaf {6!}.
IL6 might be all they need for the amount of work still being done with IL docs.

An Interleaf/QuickSilver IDU file is a combiner file. It is used to combine files (eg, a book, book autonumbers, revisions, etc.) into a single for for transporting across different OSs and archiving. It is not a compressed file (which is an IDUZ file). Depending on the age of the file, QuickSilver 2.0 may be needed to extract IDUIs created prior to QuickSilver 2.0 (Interleaf 5, 6, and 1.6.1). QuickSilver 3.8 can extract QS 2.0 and newer IDUs. QS 1.6.1 was the first Windows PC version.

You would have to get a contract with RTX in order for me to extract IDUs and provide PDF files.
