Keep getting the correct cross-reference as un-resolved cross-reference...

I'm using FM 2017. Generating a book file and keeps bringing up an un-resolved x-ref. However, the x-reference is correct, it is not an un-resolved x-ref. Clicking on the x-ref takes me to the correct source. Also, generated a pdf and the link works fine. I tried using a different format for the x-ref but still shows up as an unresolved x-ref? Is something wrong with the source?

Is the referenced file showing as locked in File Explorer? That will throw an "unresolved xref" message too.

Do you have "missing resource" dialogs when you open the files in the book? These will prevent you from successful book updates.

Nope, no missing resource dialog. The cross-reference is withing the same file, referencing a section of the file.

What about deleting the unresolved xref and replacing it?

Did you delete the x-ref text or the marker or both? I'd go ahead and delete both.

Deleted both the x-ref and the marker to replace it and it worked! Thanks!

You're getting an unresolved xref within the same file?? Sounds like the marker text at the destination may be messed up - you may have to delete the marker and re-xref it again.

Check to see that FrameMaker is not substituting for a missing font. If the marker is in a line of text where the font is "missing", the cross reference usually reports unresolved.
