Menu fonts and symbols are too small after FrameMaker 12.0.4 Update on Windows 8.1 - no effect on changing the preferences - were can I chnge it?

Correct answer Mike-Hardy

We just bought FrameMaker 2015 and ran into the same problem on a MacBook Pro with a 15"  2880 x 1800 pixel screen. Setting the screen resolution in Windows 7 has no result on the size of the menu font or the icons. This works with all other programs. Also setting the icons in the interface option of the preferences to color/grayscale regular/large does not change anything.

Is there a workaround for this?

Best regards,

Matthias Ernst

No experience myself, but this recent thread might be relevant:

I am also evaluating the software for my company.  I'm a long time FrameMaker user, and have worked at other companies with Windows 7, and structured  FrameMaker, most recently FrameMaker 11, and didn't have this problem.

I am on a MacbookPro, and using a 27" Dell monitor (Hi resolution),  I am working with a VM in Windows 7, with a screen resolution of  3840 x 2160 with a font resolution of 300%. (any lower screen resolution is a problem.)

I tried the "Disable scaling.." short cut.

Even with my fonts set to 300% and the disable scaling... selected I got:

I tried the font settings at several other resolutions with the same settings, and no it didn't make a difference with the size of the UI fonts.

The problem seems to be with the UI... menus from the pulldowns are easier to read... but I'm not sure how I can find them without a magnifying glass.

What version of FM are you running? It seems that updating to FM2015 solves this issue.

I am evaluating the software.

I am having trouble grasping how a $1000 program has issues dealing with hi resolution screens.

My laptop is a MBP 15 bootcamp with windows 10.

I have tried the tweaks but the tool bars are ridiculously small.

Is there anything that can be done to fix the issue?

Thank you

Did you try the "Disable scaling..." in the shortcut?

Which setting are you using in the Preferences - small vs large, b&w vs colour? Do you see any changes at all when trying to adjust the Preferences?

What monitor resolution do you have?

Monitor Resolution: 2880 x 1620 (Windows 8.1 200%, Fonts: 12 pt),

Perferences: small or large, b&w or colour - no difference.

All graphic Tools are unvisible.

The start-logo changes from large to very small during FrameMaker Startup Phase - this is different to the Situation bevore update.

The FM icons, toolbars, etc. are at fixed pixel sizes and are rendered by the operating system. Since you have a high-rs monitor,  tto get them to be larger, you will probably have to change the desktop scaling factor - Display control panel under “Appearance and Personalization”. Set to 150% or 200%
