My figure number is not picking up from the previous chapter

I am working in FM11. I split my chapter to accommodate a 11 x 17" foldout page. On the continuing chapter the paragraph numbers continued correctly, but the figure numbers on the continuation chapter restarted the numbering to Figure 1-1 instead of Figure 1-2. How do I make this correction? Thank you.

In your book file, right-click on the mis-numbered file to get the conteext menu and select Numbering.

Click on the paragraph tab.

Set "Continue Numbering from Previous paragraph in Book"

This will then force the figure numbers to continue numbering (unless you have a specific paratag in that file that explicitly resets the figure counter back to "1").

Have you set the file numbering to behave appropriately in your book file for the split chapter (book settings always trump file settings)?

I must not have set the numbering correctly, but I don't know how to correct it. How do you tell the difference between a book setting and file setting?
