Open FM 2022 in FM 2017

New Here ,
Jun 03, 2025 Jun 03, 2025

Hi team,

I work in FM 2022, but my teammate works in FM 2017. I saved my book as MIF files, but she is still unable to open my project. Did I have to save each chapter separately as a MIF file? But I couldn't find such option. Please share your experience.

Thank you,

Mariya

How about File > Save As (pick your version of MIF here)?

Yes, you have to save each book component individually as MIF. I have a script called ConvertDocs that will save down a batch of FrameMaker files. See www.frameexpert.com/store

Hi @Mariya_Matsiyovska:

You have the answers here—save each file individually or use Rick's script—but if you and your colleague are going to continue to work together, then I highly recommend that everyone working on files together use on the same version.
