Good morning,

The paragraph numbering appears correctly for Chapter 1 in my TOC; however, for subsequent chapters, the paragraph numbering continues instead of starting over.

I am seeing this:

Chapter 1

1.1.

1.2.

1.2.1.

Chapter 2

1.3

Instead of this:

Chapter 1

1.1.

1.2.

Chapter 2

2.1.

2.1.1.

Thanks

Also, I'm not sure if this will help, but this is my reference page:

Are each of the chapters separate docs in a book?

Yes, each chapter is a separate document within the book. There is at least one appendix between each chapter as well, and the appendices are also separate documents. Some chapters are also followed by an 11x17 document of drawings. It just depends on the chapter. So worse case, I have an 8.5x11 chapter document, followed by an 11x17 document of drawings, followed by at least one 8.5x11 appendix, followed by the next chapter document.

Hi @Samala:

Adobe just hosted a webinar on numbering properties: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtPQ7fZM564. If you have a basic understanding of numbering in FrameMaker you might want to start around 42 mins (further back if you don't), and then watch the next 20 mins or so, which gets into how to increment the numbers in your book.

Numbered headings is a three-step process: you first need to add the building blocks to the paragraph styles, next set the how the numbers increment in the book window and finally, update your book.
