pdf links don't work for imported text

Hi.
I imported some common sections located in their own frame file into three different books.

I tried this by reference first because I want to make changes only once, to the actual file.
When I make a pdf, the toc links to the imported reference text don't work. Nor do links within the text to other locations in the text.

When I import by text, the links work. But import by text defeats the purpose of having one source for multiple books.

I appreciate any help on this.

Unfortunately, cross-references in FM files imported by reference into other FM files ("text insets") are not converted to PDF links -- this applies to all versions of FrameMaker and Acrobat.

Limited workarounds are to (1) convert the text insets to regular text (on a temporary copy that is discarded after the PS/PDF is created; this can be automated using FrameScript) or (2) use hypertext links to create the PDF links (these are converted properly even when in a text inset).

Shlomo.
Thank you for confirming the problem. I'll now seek a work around.

Bib,

A number of years ago Rick Quattro, www.frameexpert.com, created a FrameScript for me that solved exactly that problem. Try to contact him.

I certainly did work, but I haven't had the need for it since 1999 !

Keep smiling
Thomas
